For years, people have turned to solitaire diamonds for engagement ring needs. Recent trends show, however, that more and more lovebirds are also considering gemstone engagement rings. Whether it’s rubies, sapphires, or emeralds, these fun-colored stones have become as popular as the traditional diamond solitaire. To demonstrate, this white gold and sapphire diamond engagement ring displayed below has the best of both worlds with a round cut diamond center stone and sapphire accents.
What’s also trending are diamonds with larger cuts, but simpler looks, such as this gorgeous ring by Gabriel & Co that also features sapphire crystals.
For more of the latest engagement ring trends, we’ve listed the top 5 most popular engagement ring styles searched on Pinterest below.
The round-cut engagement ring style still reigns supreme and has even gained 10 times the amount of searches if compared to the year before. Round-cut center stones are definitely the classic style for engagement rings and have always been popular due to their symmetrical shape and simple brilliance.
The hunt is on for cushion-cut rings, 80% more than last year to be exact. This pillow shaped cut looks best within a halo setting, which is what seems to make them so attractive. A cushion-shaped cut is also naturally larger in size, which is a major plus.
The princess-cut is more of a square shaped cut that can be better seen within a prong setting. People are searching for the princess-cut 60% more so than last year. This cut may get its popularity for its affordability and because it works well with most settings, especially the three-stone.
About 50% more people are searching for this lengthy, oval-shaped cut. Being a larger sized center stone, women are saying yes to going big. Halos and side stones also work really well for additional brilliance.
The search for this oblong-shaped cut is up 35% more than last year. After many recently engaged celebrities have dawned the emerald cut, the spike in interest was expected. This shape’s natural beauty can shine in the simplest settings.
