It looks like another royal wedding is on the horizon! In late September, Princess Beatrice said yes to her sweetheart of two years, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. We got our first glimpse of the newly engaged couple— and Princess Beatrice’s beautiful royal engagement ring— via the Instagram account of another royal, Princess Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie.

Princess Eugenie shared some her sister’s engagement shots on her Instagram page. Along with shots of the couple smiling and basking in their engagement, Princess Eugenie presented us with something all royal jewelry watchers (including us!) were anxiously waiting for: a close up picture of Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring.

Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring is a breathtaking bespoke piece from British jeweler Shaun Leane. The ring features a classic round brilliant cut diamond at its center, which is estimated to be around 3 carats. This dazzling center stone is accented with numerous diamonds along the band. This ring’s band is set with both round diamonds and tapered baguette diamonds.
We got some more details on Princess Beatrice’s custom engagement ring via an official press release and a post on designer Shaun Leane’s Instagram, which included an excellent high resolution image of the ring.

In the press release, we learned that Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring is a platinum and diamond piece that is a “fusion of Victorian and Art Deco designs” and is “set with excellent cut diamonds of the highest color and clarity.” We also learned that the princess’s engagement ring was handcrafted and that all the diamonds within her ring are both GIA certified and ethically sourced.
The ring’s designer Shaun Leane has said that “the design is filled with personal and sentimental signifiers for the couple and unique to them.”
One thing that numerous royal jewelry fans have pointed out about Princess Beatrice’s ring is that it strongly resembles Queen Elizabeth’s engagement ring. Many people have speculated this resemblance is one of the “personal and sentimental signifiers” implemented by designer Shaun Leane.
Queen Elizabeth’s ring, which she wears to this day, does bear a strong resemblance to Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring. Like Beatrice’s ring, Queen Elizabeth’s engagement ring is crafted from platinum, features a superb quality three carat round diamond, and is accented with diamonds along a tapered band.
Royal Engagement Ring Round Up
Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring is quite classic in style. While this seems fitting for a royal, highly classic round diamond engagement rings are actually a bit unusual for British royals today. Lately, we’ve seen more fancy shaped diamond engagement rings and colorful gemstone engagement rings from the British Royals. Below, we’ll highlight some other gorgeous royal engagement rings worn by Princess Beatrice’s royal contemporaries!
1. Kate Middleton and Princess Diana’s Blue Sapphire Engagement Ring

The engagement ring worn by Kate Middleton is perhaps the most famous engagement ring in the world. Kate Middleton’s ring became famous when it was first worn by Princess Diana after her 1981 engagement to Prince Charles. This engagement ring is a stunning 12 carat blue sapphire ring with a diamond halo setting. Princess Diana’s engagement ring was quite an unusual choice for a royal at the time, since the ring was not bespoke and the design was available for public sale. While her choice of ring was controversial among royals, the public adored Princess Diana’s ring, and her ring sparked a blue sapphire engagement ring trend.
Prince William proposed with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring when he and Kate Middleton got engaged in 2010. Prince William stated that he decided to give his mother’s ring to Kate as a “way of making sure my mother didn’t miss out on today and the excitement.”
2. Meghan Markle’s Cushion Cut Three Stone Engagement Ring

Meghan Markle’s engagement ring was designed by her now husband Prince Harry. This ring also features a sentimental touch that was added to ensure that Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, would be a part of the couple’s new union. Markle’s engagement ring features a center cushion cut diamond and two side diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection. Prince Harry stated that “the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection to make sure that she’s with us on this— on this crazy journey together.”
While Meghan Markle’s original engagement ring featured a yellow gold band, it appears that she had it updated sometime this past summer. Her engagement ring now features a very slim white band that is set with a slim line of pave diamonds.
3. Princess Eugenie’s Padparadscha Sapphire Engagement Ring
When Princess Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, got engaged last year, she debuted a stunning sapphire ring. Rather than featuring a blue sapphire like Kate Middleton and Princess Diana’s ring, Princess Eugenie’s engagement ring features a padparadscha sapphire. Padparadscha (which means “lotus blossom”) sapphires are a very rare pink-orange colored sapphire. Princess Eugenie’s breathtaking sapphire is set in a stunning diamond floral halo setting.
